Writing
Painting With Words
Writing is one of my passions because it engages my mind and serves as an outlet for my thoughts, ideas and creative outbursts. When I was little, I delighted in reading, and that love turned into a love for putting words together on my own. Writing is like a puzzle; you have to choose just the right words to get your idea across, without letting words get in the way of what you're saying.
I call myself a writer because I write. That doesn't mean I've been published, or even that I'm particularly good at writing, but I am a writer. I hope to be known as a novelist one day. My favorite genres to write include fantasy and science fiction, but what I've written is more of a big pile of "normal" fiction with unusual elements thrown in here and there. I have five novels in progress, none of which are complete, and a couple more in the planning stages. :D However, you will find mostly poetry on this page because I'm a bit self-conscious about my fiction. —I'll get over that some day. :) I hope you enjoy!

Academic Writing
I know what you're thinking. School research papers? How boring! Yes, I know. At first glance the bulky paragraphs and citations and quotes look tiresome and tedious. But hear me out: while I worked on these papers, I began to appreciate what I was learning. I found these topics intriguing, controversial moments in history that really had an impact. If you read these you are sure to learn things you didn't know before, and hopefully gain a little appreciation. :)
Dred Scott v. Sandford / November 12, 2007 / The Supreme Court's 1857 Dred Scott decision about slavery and citizenship contributed to antagonistic feelings between the North and South before the Civil War broke out.
The Scopes Trial / April 17, 2008 / Also known as the Monkey Trial, the 1925 Scopes Trial was a profound conflict between traditional Christian beliefs and modernized secular ideas, a battle that still continues today.
